Ministries
Seeking to accomplish God’s purpose for SBC, we work together in the 8 major church ministries. These ministries focus the service, activities and gifts of His people, into a healthy and thriving church body.
Our purpose is to cultivate the lasting impact of Jesus in the lives of Guatemalans and those who go from the U.S., through Short Term Missions opportunities.
Our mission is to partner local churches and para-church ministries in Guatemala, with churches and individuals from the United States, who wish to participate in Short Term Missions Projects in that country. These might include but are not limited to: building and construction projects, tutoring in English, door to door witnessing, children’s programs, community outreach programs, women’s ministries and local church service participation. Currently, we are partnering with Grace Baptist Church, Mount of Olives Evangelical Church and New Life School.
We believe that supporting, serving and encouraging the indigenous local church and para-church ministries is the most effective way to create a lasting impact in Guatemala.
Spicewood Kids Club is an after school children’s program, for children K-5th grade. It is sponsored by Spicewood Baptist Church and is held at the church after school every Wednesday until 5:30pm.
Spicewood Kids Club is a Christian based club for all children. We play games, sing songs, learn Bible stories, and hear lessons on faith, love and the life of Jesus. It is a place where your children will be taught weekly, moral principles such as honesty, truthfulness, pleasing God and serving others. It is a place where traditional values like respect, consideration of others, and obedience are taught and expected. Parents are welcome to come and visit anytime.
The Women’s Ministry at Spicewood Baptist Church exists to encourage, support and meet the unique needs of the women of our church and community. We desire to fulfill Colossians 1:10 “…to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
In an effort to accomplish this, we are committed to 1) offer weekly Bible study opportunities (Sunday School hour and Monday evening/Tuesday morning studies), 2) periodic Ladies Retreats and to 3) focus on prayer. We are committed to support the other ministries of our church, such as Kids’ Club, hosting banquets, baby/wedding showers, Wednesday evening meals, always looking for ways to meet the needs of our church family and the families in our community, as the Lord leads.
Before the morning worship service at SBC, small groups of students and adults meet in the Family Life Center for small group study and discussion time. The groups vary from students, children, single adults, married couples and short term topical themes. This pre-service hour begins each Sunday at 9:30am.
Spending time forming closer relationships, praying together, studying scripture, rejoicing together and holding each other up, is what small groups accomplish. Each Wednesday evening everyone is welcome to a pot-luck style dinner, followed by praise music, prayer and bible study. The meal begins at 6:00pm.
